Dr. Mohammad Aman

Dr. Aman specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has over 17 years of experience. Dr Aman strongly believes in medication being prescribed as a last resort and established Brightstar as a comprehensive multi-disciplinary practice.
Leticia “Tish” Johnson
Vice President of Operations
Tish is a medical office specialist with ten years of medical office experience and seven years of experience in mental health. She has been with Brightstar for eight years. She enjoys spending time with her family and is a die-hard San Francisco 49ers fan.
Issac Connie, MA, LPC
Issac is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a Masters of Arts in Counseling. Issac takes a solution-focused approach with clients to help shift their thinking from a problem focused stand point to a solution-focused type of thinking. He works primarily with adolescents, families, adults, and couples to discover and develop tools to overcome the problems.
Zachary Zender, MA, LPC-S
Director, Children and Families
Zach is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked for Brightstar since 2012. He holds a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling. Zach primarily works with children, adolescents, families and young adults. He also assists Dr. Aman in assessments and evaluations. Zach has a wide range of counseling and mental health experience including: school-based behavioral intervention, adolescent group trainings and counseling, and individual and family counseling. He primarily uses a cognitive behavioral therapy model but integrates from other models when applicable including Family Systems, Solution-focused, and Play Therapy. Zach is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor.
Zach is an avid sports fan and enjoys spending time with friends and family, working out, and playing golf.
Shelley Guess, MA, LPC-Intern
Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern
Shelley has been a part of the Brightstar team since January 2016. She specializes in Adolescent Issues, Depression and Anxiety, and ADHD coaching, and she works with children, teenagers, and adults. Shelley is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology and Counseling, and earned Master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and in Education in 2013. She is currently licensed in the stated of Texas as Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern. When she’s not in the office, Shelley enjoys being active through triathlon training and other outdoor activities. She’s an active member of her church and enjoys time with friends and family. Shelley is supervised by Zachary Zender, MA, LPC-S.
Joshua Walsh, MA, LPC
Josh has a Masters of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University. He has worked at Brightstar since April 2014. Josh has been counseling since 2011 and has experience in working with a variety of presenting problems with pre-adolescents, adolescents, adults, and family relationships. Josh operates primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy model but integrates behavioral and family systems theory when applicable.
Katharine Ottone, LPC
Katie is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a Master’s of Education in Counseling from Texas Christian University (TCU). She is currently on fellowship at TCU to complete her Ph. D in Counseling and Counselor Education. She is also a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, utilizing Ericksonian hypnosis. Katie incorporates many different approaches to therapy on top of her basis as a solution-focused therapist. She has provided counseling to all ages and in many settings including: community organization, psychiatric hospital, university, and athletic clubs. Katie has extensive experience and training in trauma, anxiety, depression, and family systems.
Bessie Ann Christenson, MAMFC, LPC-S

Bessie Ann Christenson is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience working with children, teens, individuals, couples, and families. She received her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and her Bachelors in Elementary Education. Whenever possible, she integrates family members into the process of counseling as she believes healthy family functioning and harmonious supportive relationships are one of the keys to overall wellbeing. She utilizes many different approaches to therapy and works with her clients to set goals for counseling and assist them in recognizing their strengths. The approaches she uses are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. Bessie Ann is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor.
Amelia Worthen, MA, LPC-Intern

Amelia Worthen is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern under the direct supervision of Meredith Akin-Ivey, LPC-S. Amelia received her Masters of Education in Counseling from Texas Tech University and Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She is privileged to help and walk beside others who are inspired to grow and change their lives for the better. Amelia has worked in foster care and adoption for more than 9 years. She enjoys working with families and children and helping them manage the trauma past neglect, physical, emotional, and sexual abuse caused. Helping children heal and teaching families how to facilitate further healing out of a therapeutic relationship is extremely important. Amelia has experience in counseling teens and pre-teens from the age 8 and up and she has provided group counseling for teens, young adults, and foster/adoptive parents. Amelia has worked with clients on issues of grief, childhood abuse, family relationships, depression, anxiety, and many other topics. She has extensive experience in helping families who are struggling with adoption related issues. Amelia looks forward to supporting and assisting you in your journey.
Suja George, RN PMHNP-BC
Suja is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She is licensed and trained to treat psychiatric and mental health problems across the lifespan. Suja graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. She has experience in treating a variety mental health disorders including: ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, and other behavioral and mood disorders. Suja is committed and focused on providing quality care to help her patients on their journey towards a meaningful, fulfilling life.
Rameshwar Thapa, PMHNP-BC
Rameshwar is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He received a Master’s of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington. Rameshwar has experience in a variety of psychiatric environments and treating a variety of mental health struggles. He is committed towards assisting patients achieve their mental health goals.

Runako is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is committed to providing person centered care to patients from many different backgrounds with various mental health conditions. Runako is passionate about working with people of all age groups and helping them on their path to mental wellness.
